Contest Rules & Regulations
The Margarita Contest is a fundraiser for your non-profit or for-profit charities and businesses. To be fair to everyone participating, please follow the rules below:
Rules For Everyone:
Must make margaritas from scratch, no bottled premixes.
- Must supply a minimum of 5 gallons of margaritas
- Tasting cups and ice will be provided, you will provide all other ingredients.
- You may use a frozen Margarita machine if you would like, however, you will need to arrive early enough to set it up and have it frozen by noon. Additionally, you will need to be at the event by 8pm to remove the machine (we will not be storing or cleaning machines). Please call Cathy at 775-750-7163 in advance if you are planning on using one.
If you do NOT have a health permit:
- You must bring your supplies to the contest area by 10:00am and premix your margarita on site (we will have containers for you to use, you MUST use our containers), due to health department permits, they must be mixed on site.
- Your margarita will be served by the ACES in our designated area only, if you want to serve your margarita during the event, you will become an ACES volunteer for the day!
- You do not have to stay for the event, however, you must remove any left-over ingredients prior to leaving.
- Any leftover Margarita’s not picked up at 8pm will be served at the bar as a donation to the ACES
If you DO have a health permit:
- You can mix your margaritas in advance or on site. However, the 5 gallons must be at the site by 10:00am (we do provide you with a 5-gallon container, but you must pick it up in advance)
- Your margarita will be served by the ACES in our designated area only, if you want to serve your margarita during the event, you will become an ACES volunteer for the day!
- You must remove any leftover ingredients prior to leaving.
- Any leftover Margarita’s not picked up at 8pm will be served at the bar as a donation to the ACES
How the contest works:
Participants will purchase entries into Margarita area for $5, with their entry they will receive 1 (ONE) voting ticket. Each paid entry gets a 4oz “taste” of all Margarita’s. Once they have tasted them all, they will place their “voting ticket” into the voting container that they feel is the best. At the end of the competition, you will receive $5 for each ticket you have in your voting container, and the participant with the most tickets will win the coveted “Golden Blender”! Please NOTE, the voting is done blind, meaning the name of your company or
group will NOT be on the containers. We also sell “drinking tickets” at the main table as well. Drinking tickets are purchased for $5 and gives the purchaser a full size serving of any Margarita of their choice, at the end of the day you will receive $5 for each “drinking ticket” that was used for a full-size drink of your Margarita.
